A GREAT opportunity COMPETITION - NOW CLOSED Win an entry to the BUPA Great North Run, Nike+ virtual training sessions and Nike+ kit RUNNERS who train to music will know that Nike+ links your iPod Nano to a sensor in your running shoe and allows you to keep track of your time, distance, calories and speed during your run – via audio feedback through your headphones. You don’t just benefit during your run, though. When you sync your Nano to the website – www.nikeplus.com – you can create your own profile and log all your runs.
You can also challenge others to run
further or faster, set yourself goals and chat with other runners on
the forums where you can swap training tips, discuss “power songs”
or simply be inspired without having to go to the gym to work out
with music. If you win this competition you will join Athletics Weekly’s editor, Jason Henderson, as a member of the Nike+ team at this year’s race, which takes place on September 30. Via the nikeplus.com website, you will become virtual training buddies and be able to participate in online challenges. You will also be able to track your own progress and also use the “trash talk” feature to “diss” fellow competitors if they skip training. In addition to the free entry to the world’s biggest half-marathon, shoes, kit and an iPod, as part of the prize the winner will also receive return travel and overnight accommodation in Newcastle the day before the race. Nike+ is offering some unique motivational guidance for this year’s BUPA Great North Run in the form of MOT Clinics and Nike+ Pace groups. The MOT Clinics will take place in specialist running shops in Newcastle, Manchester, London and Leeds providing free shoe advice, gait analysis, check-ups with sports physiotherapists, massage, and advice on stretching, training and injury prevention from physiotherapists. What’s more, five Nike+ Pace groups will be available during the BUPA Great North Run itself for runners aiming for times between 80 minutes and two hours. The Nike+ Pace Leaders will help 50 people in each group to judge their pace and provide motivation and momentum during the race.
