London 2012’s summer roadshow LONDON 2012 is encouraging people around the UK to “Join In” during its 10-week roadshow this summer. Launching on June 15 in Greenwich, a specially branded bus will stop at 27 locations all over the UK, ending at Stoke Mandeville to mark five years to go to the London 2012 Paralympic Games. There will be taster sessions of sports such as athletics and advice on how to become involved in the sport locally. The National Lottery ‘Dream Statistics’ zone will give people the chance to find out what sport they are likely to be best suited to based on their statistics, testing height, weight and muscle power.
The bus will carry the new London 2012
brand, which launched earlier this week (see below left). "The London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games are the UK’s Games,” says Coe. "This year’s roadshow will show the whole country how everyone can be part of the 2012 Games, and everyone can benefit from the legacy long after the final race has been won. “Improving sports participation has long been one of our most important legacy objectives from the Games, and this year’s roadshow will focus on just that. Every visitor at every event will have a range of opportunities to try new sports and learn about sports facilities in their local area. This country already has a passion for sport – and deepening that passion for playing sport and coaching sport will be an important legacy which will outlast us all." ►SEE www.london2012.com for more information |
